Reconstruction: Problems and Solutions
Assignment Goal:
This assignment was designed to evaluate the problems which occurred with Reconstruction. We were to find the real solutions which were thought to solve this problem. The assignment was then to create some type of creative product which expressed the three main topics; political, economic and social.
The Problems:
Political : The re-entry of the South
Economic : Economic reconstruction after the South was destroyed by the War
Social : Educational reform and equality
The Solutions:
Political: Congress made many attempts to reform states (Tennessee, the 15th Amendment, and the Wades-Davis Bill)
Economic : The Southern economy was reconstructed in many ways including share cropping and job opportunity and equality.
Social : The Federal Government assisted in education reforms. (14th Amendment, Black Codes and Freedman's Bureau).

The creative product that Caley and I created is a three-sided display. Our main idea was to use pictures, including primary sources to describe each of the topics. We then included a very brief caption at the bottom of each side to sum up the basics. Each photo represents a solution to the problem. We were prepared to discuss and explain this with the class.
