Important Information:
- He first served in the Ohio Senate and then in the United States Senate.
- He supported alcohol interests and women's suffrage in both Senates.
- Harding promised to return the nation to "normalcy" as a candidate in the campaign.
- Harding wanted to move away from the progressive movement.
- He signed the first federal child welfare program into act.
- Harding dealt with workers on strike by supporting an 8 hour work day, because of this he saw a 50% unemployment rate disappear.
- President Harding established the Bureau of the Budget in preparation for the federal budget.
- He did not support the League of Nation and signed a World War I peace treaty with Germany and Austria.
- Harding suddenly collapsed and died in California in August 1923.
